John-Francis Lecoultre

John-Francis Lecoultre (Le Locle 1905 – Clarens 1990) is a Swiss painter, sculptor and mosaicist. He learnt the trade of jeweller at the School of Art of La Chaux-de-Fonds, then in Paris he took courses from Henri Bouchard and Robert Wlérick, and he attended the Académie Colarossi and the Académie Julian. From the decorative and plastic arts, John-Francis Lecoultre favoured painting. From 1925 onwards, his career took him between Switzerland and Paris. The war brought him back to Switzerland for good, where the past master of the technique of pastel continued to paint throughout his life.
